The new Altinn – simpler, safer and more modern
Many users will likely notice that some parts of the solution are marked with a “beta” icon. This means that the functionality is still under development and will continue to be improved over time. This is an important part of our agile working approach and helps us improve the solution faster and with greater precision.
By marking features as beta, we aim to be transparent that parts of the solution are not yet fully complete, while inviting users to test, explore, and provide feedback. You can naturally trust that the new solution is just as secure as the old one.
The old solution is still available and can, and in some cases must be used, if you are not yet able to do what you need in the new solution. At launch, there is nothing that can only be done in the new solution, but services that require the new solution will gradually be introduced as the old Altinn is phased out in June 2026.
What’s new from December 1
Clearer and more modern design
An updated and more recognizable user interface, simpler language, and a mobile-adapted solution make Altinn easier for users to navigate.
Better overview of messages
In the new inbox, messages, notifications, and receipts are gathered in a single dialog with clear status indicators. This gives users a better overview and makes it easier to see what requires follow-up and what is completed or still in progress.
More user-friendly profile page
New profile settings give users a better overview and control over notifications, notification addresses, contact information, favorites, and actors.
New user interface for access management and delegation
Access management has been redesigned to be clearer and easier to administer, initially for organizations.
Access packages for organizations
These replace the old Altinn II roles. More packages with clearer thematic grouping provide a foundation for more precise access management.
System access and integrations
System providers can use system access to connect professional systems to Altinn services without personal logins. This enables more stable and secure integrations for users.
New help pages and new navigation
The information portal now features a new global navigation structure, including header, search, and menu at the top of the page. The content is largely the same as before, but presented in a new and more intuitive format. New help pages have also been developed covering both the new and the old solutions.

A transition period
Both the old and the new solutions will be in use during the transition period. At launch, the new inbox displays messages and submitted forms dated from January 2025 onwards, while older messages and Altinn II forms in progress remain available only in the old inbox.
The same applies to access management. Several key features are already available in the new solution, but Altinn II is still required for the following:
- Grant access to individual services
- Process access requests (from the “Request access” functionality)
- Grant access to services not yet linked to one or more of the new access packages (using Altinn II roles)
Thank you for your patience
We look forward to showing you the new Altinn and greatly appreciate your patience as we rebuild the platform. If you have questions or feedback, please contact us at support@altinn.no.
